I specialize in adventure luxury travel, particularly the exotic and unusual. My clients have slept in glass pods on the side of a Peruvian rock face (you enter them by rock climbing and exit by ziplining!). I’ve sent clients to the remotest parts of Alaska to watch bears feed. I design customized private yacht travel for any destination that my clients choose.
As someone with an “out-of-the-box” approach to travel, I always find hidden gems for my clients, like a hotel with an ultra-private patio that overlooks the Amalfi Coast in Italy, a private kayak experience on Lake Titicaca, or one of the Trevi homes in Alberobello, Italy, passed down through generations. Whether you want to sleep in a treehouse in Belize or simply book a cozy weekend getaway, I will do everything to ensure that you have an incredible experience. Nearly all of my business comes from referrals because of the friendships I build with my clients, and the extra-personalized care and honesty that they have come to expect from me and my team.
I have a master’s degree in family counseling, and after I founded Time 4 My Vacation, that counseling background has been a real asset; I’m able to truly listen to each client’s individual preferences and create the perfectly tailored trip.
When I am not traveling or designing travel for others, I enjoy running, weight lifting, yoga, and walking my two long-haired dachshunds. I also love watching old movies, going on hikes with my family, and playing Codenames!
I have always had a passion for travel. I see the way travel can change your perspective and inspire you in ways you could never imagine. I also have a knack for organizing trips. This started at very young age when I would plan my family’s vacations down to the minute. When I travel I want to get the most out of my vacation. So when I plan my client’s travel I approach it with the same attention to detail. I want my clients to love traveling as much as I do. So bring me your dream trip and I will make it a reality.
When asked, "what do you want to be when you grow up", my answer was always, “I just want to see new things and travel the world.” My parents were not big on my plan to travel the world alone, so I obtained a master’s degree from the University of Oklahoma. I worked in patient care settings for over 25 years, however; my passion, and personal therapy, has always been travel. My husband and I have traveled throughout the United States, the Caribbean, Costa Rica, and even Ireland. We have taken our two girls on vacations as often as possible. We believe that seeing different cultures and landmarks are more important than giving them tangible items. Those are memories that they will always cherish. Travel is what excites me and makes my life complete.
I am located in the heart of Shawnee, OK. I have lived all over Oklahoma growing up, so I never really had a hometown. If you name a small town in Oklahoma, I have been there or lived there. My accent will prove that. We have two daughters. One goes to college in Colorado and the other goes to college in New York. So, we are frequent travelers to both states.
I really should have been born in Italy. My daughter and I could eat Italian food for every meal. I love trying new dishes whenever we travel. I loved discovering plantain chips on our first trip to Costa Rica. By our third time there, I knew that I had to stock up in order to bring some home. You can buy them here, but they are not the same. Guinness beer doesn't taste the same here either. Nothing is better than a cold Guinness in Dublin.
If I were to offer just one piece of advice to someone new to travel, it would be this: There is no right or wrong way to do things…from packing to developing your itinerary. I can offer you advice, but you should experience it the way you want to, and don't be rigid in a plan. See all that you can see and breathe it all in! I survived a trip where my husband forgot to pack my clothes in the suitcase. It will all work out!
I am often asked if there was once place that I have traveled that changed me as a person. I have so many travels that have changed me, so it’s really hard to narrow that down to one specific destination. Every time that I see the ocean, I feel centered and at peace. A trip that really challenged me was the first time that we went to Costa Rica. My husband and I went out alone with a guide. We rappelled, zip-lined, swung through waterfalls, etc. It was a whole day of being out in the rainforest. I did things that I never thought that I would be able to do. My husband might have had to push me a bit, but I did it! Our trip to Ireland was another vacation that I feel changed me as well. My father has always discussed Ireland and how our family has roots there. It was a dream come true to be able to see the land he had described to me.
What is your favorite destination movie? Mine is The Hangover. What is better than a weekend in Vegas?! Whether you are looking for a quick weekend jaunt, a bachelor party destination, a honeymoon, or a family vacation – I’d love to help you plan the perfect getaway!
Hello fellow travelers!
My name is Nicole Shinn, and I am a married mother to a newly
graduated college student and a third grader. We are a Disney family and proud members of
the Disney Vacation Club, as well as Walt Disney World annual passholders. While I travel to the
Disney parks regularly, I am also always looking forward to the next trip to places like the
national parks, cities such as New York City, the mountains of the Canadian Rockies and
anywhere else I can check off my list. Family trips, girls trips, couple trips…I love it all! Besides
true crime podcasts/true crime documentaries or putting together puzzles in my spare time,
you can also usually find me researching any place we decide to go and getting into all the
details that will help ensure our trips go off without a hitch. While I specialize in Disney travel, I
have planned multiple trips to Europe and have been all over the world thanks to my day job
supporting the US Air Force. I would love to take all the stress out of figuring out the details for
the next perfect trip for you.
